I used to live in London for 3 years, and right now I am living in the North of France. I travel by train — A LOT — because I still have clients in the UK. The train is more convenient than the airplane because the check-in / check-out takes ages at the airport. For that reason, I needed to find the perfect app for booking trains in seconds.
Launching
This is pure gold. The splash screen has the same UI as the shell of the app. When I open the app, the departure date is automatically hydrated with the actual time, it remembers my last destinations and I can book a ticket in literally 5 seconds.
Navigation
To book a ticket we don’t need much navigation. The app is very simple and easy to use with 3 tabs. The rest of the app is using modals.
Date picker
Most date pickers on mobile phones are horrible <Select>. On trainline, we have a nice calendar view, where you can select the date and time of departure.

It takes less than 30 seconds to book a ticket. No dark pattern here, the UI is super clean and I can quickly identify the cheapest ticket.
